How to properly clean your TINEZ Workwear
For your clothing to perform well at altitude, it must be clean, intact, and carefully maintained. On this page, you will find all the information and tips for durable workwear.
Why care is important
Workwear is subjected to extreme stress daily during use—from sweat, dust, weather, friction, and mechanical strain. Only proper cleaning and care can preserve its protective function, freedom of movement, and material quality. Additionally, you save money: well-maintained clothing lasts longer, and you replace it less frequently.
1. Observe the care label
The manufacturer's instructions are not optional: they show you the temperature limit, washing mode, and warnings such as "do not bleach," "do not iron hot." Before washing, you should check workwear for visible damage (e.g., open seams, tears) and repair it if necessary. For heavy dirt, wiping with a dry or damp cloth is often sufficient.
2. Sort & wash separately
Wash your workwear with your regular household laundry with similar colors. Remove detachable parts, such as the hood or snap pockets, and wash them separately in a laundry bag. If you are washing your products for the first time, please wash them alone so that they do not stain other textiles.
3. Pre-treatment of stains
Heavily soiled clothing should be pre-treated as soon as possible. For oil and grease stains, a mild degreaser can help. Sweat and deodorant residues can often be removed with lukewarm water and a mild cleaner. Ink and other color stains can be removed with a special stain remover. However, always test the product first in an inconspicuous area!
4. Detergent & temperature
Use mild liquid detergents without optical brighteners or bleach if possible (→ they can damage materials and functions). Observe the maximum temperature according to the care label. Do not use fabric softener when washing your workwear - this can impair the function of membranes or coatings.
5. Drying & waterproofing
Air drying is best for your workwear. Hang your textiles in the shade, away from direct heat sources. You should only tumble dry our regular work trousers (CRAFTMAN, FRYSLAN, ABRA, etc.) gently. All other products are not suitable for tumble drying.
If your clothing has a water-repellent finish, it will diminish over time. Perform bead tests: if water droplets no longer bead off, re-waterproofing is necessary.
Use a commercially available waterproofing spray for this.
Special notes for workwear for climbing & industrial rope access
Materials like highly abrasion-resistant fabric, reinforcements, or special membranes require special care. Make sure to close or fasten zippers, Velcro, and buttons before washing to prevent damage during the washing process.
If your clothing has reflective elements or safety features, ensure that these are not compromised by cleaning. You can also turn the textile inside out in this case. However, for rainwear, you should leave the garment right side out to best protect the sealed seams.
